Overview
MCS Group is proud to be working with a global technology-led organisation to recruit a General Counsel for their growing Belfast office. This is a senior, strategic legal position covering a broad range of responsibilities across commercial contracting, compliance, data protection, and IP. The role provides an exciting opportunity to influence legal and operational decision-making in a fast-paced, international business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Contracts: Lead the review, negotiation, and approval of customer, OEM, supplier, and partner contracts.
Legal Advisory: Provide in-house legal advice across areas including employment, litigation, property leases, and corporate governance.
Compliance & GDPR: Oversee GDPR and data privacy compliance across the organisation and support the Information Security Group.
IP Management: Protect and manage intellectual property including trademarks, software licensing, and confidential information.
Risk Management: Proactively identify legal risks and support senior stakeholders with pragmatic, solution-oriented advice.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Qualified solicitor in Northern Ireland, UK, or equivalent jurisdiction.
Extensive experience in commercial legal roles, ideally in-house.
Strong understanding of contracts, data protection (GDPR), and intellectual property.
Ability to manage multiple legal disciplines and work independently.
Confident communicator with sound judgment and business acumen.
Desirable Attributes
Background in technology or software sectors.
Experience dealing with international legal matters or cross-border transactions.
Prior experience working as sole legal counsel or in a lean legal team.
