What we’re looking for
Evidence of experience of the following:
- Ownership of a client portfolio/contacts for ongoing management and development
- Supervision and training of junior staff
- Experience with preparing and reviewing FRS 102 Section 1A accounts
- Supporting business development activities
- Experience of reviewing management accounts and supporting clients with their accounting needs
- Liaising with government bodies and external organisations such as HMRC
- Experience of preparing and/or reviewing IFRS/FRS101 financial statements preferable but not mandatory to be considered for the role.
- Software experience – Xero, Silverfin preferable, Caseware preferable
Principal Responsibilities:
- To ensure the planning, prioritisation and allocation of client work ensuring effective team workflow.
- Ensure establishment of scope and budget for each piece of client accounts work under own control and ensure adequate briefing to team members.
- Preparation or delegation of key client accounts work in line with agreed budget ensuring adherence to the firm’s standards of performance document, liaising with other team members and specialists in other service lines, where necessary, on overly complex areas.
- Proactively look for ways to maximise efficiencies with the team and service line.
- Monitor work progress and ensure appropriate levels of communication with all clients and internal stakeholders on progress for each key task or phase.
- Ensure proactive management of instances where the ‘work done’ exceeds the agreed client fee and ensure agreement of a mutually acceptable outcome.
- Active workflow and WIP management on your client portfolio, liaising with other teams as needed to ensure works is completed as efficiently as possible and WIP and time costs are billed in a timely manner.
Client, Internal and External Organisational Contact:
- Client Relationships: Build strong, collaborative relationships, ensuring proactive communication.
- Account Management: Act as the key contact for nominated clients, overseeing compliance and service delivery.
- Proactive Engagement: Reach out to clients with valuable updates and lead account reviews and year-end meetings.
- Internal Collaboration: Work with internal teams to provide a full suite of services and support cross-selling opportunities.
- Team Support: Guide and support junior team members to foster growth and development.
- Business Development: Identify opportunities, network with intermediaries, and focus on key sectors for growth.
Leadership, People Management and Development:
- Work collaboratively with other members of the local management team to ensure the team is operating as effectively as possible.
- Supervise the rest of the team who are involved in production and delivery of own accounts work.
- Ensure clear task plans & milestones for each piece of accounts work.
- Provide feedback to all team members involved in specific accounts work to encourage growth and development.
