An established food manufacturing FMCG company in the Greater Manchester region is looking for a Purchasing Manager to lead the implementation of their Supplier and Sourcing Strategy. The role requires managing a worldwide supply chain to enhance cost-efficiency and working closely with the New Product Development team to launch forward-thinking and innovative products. Responsibilities

  • Create and execute purchasing strategies that enhance supply chain efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and secure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery conditions.
  • Stay informed on market trends, pricing changes, and supplier performance to guide purchasing decisions.
  • Work closely with production and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of materials for manufacturing.
  • Keep accurate records of inventory, purchase orders, and supplier contracts, while analyzing data to forecast future purchasing requirements.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Demonstrated experience as a buyer or procurement professional in the food industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of sourcing, supply chain management, and market trends.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficient in procurement and inventory management software.
  • Experience in ERP/MRP would be beneficial
