Job Description:

Job Overview: We are seeking an engaging Specification & Project Development Manager to work directly with main contractors, ensuring our specifications are upheld throughout the project lifecycle. This role is not directly sales-focused but is critical in influencing decision-makers, securing commercial agreements, and positioning our company as a preferred supplier. You will act as the bridge between main contractors, our in-house specification managers, and account managers, ensuring seamless collaboration across all project stakeholders, including architects and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Main Contractor Engagement: Build strong relationships with main contractors, understanding their key concerns, procurement processes, and project priorities.
  • Specification Influence: Ensure our specifications remain in place throughout the RIBA project stages, working closely with architects, subcontractors, and project managers.
  • Commercial Agreements: Negotiate and secure agreements with main contractors to establish us as a preferred supplier.
  • Project Tracking & Strategy: Monitor and track all relevant projects, ensuring timely engagement at critical phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work alongside specification managers, account managers, and in-house design teams to ensure technical alignment.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the key point of contact between main contractors and our internal teams, ensuring smooth handover of specifications and alignment with sales teams.
  • Market & Competitor Awareness: Stay updated on industry trends, competitor specifications, and main contractor requirements to position our products effectively.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Non-negotiable: Experience in construction, specification sales, and main contractor engagement (working within the RIBA framework).
  • Strong knowledge of main contractor procurement processes and their key concerns (cost, compliance, efficiency, and risk mitigation).
  • Understanding of the BSA, GTW2 and how it impacts the industry.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and secure agreements with contractors.
  • Project tracking expertise, understanding when and how to intervene in the project timeline.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to bridge relationships between contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Technical understanding of construction materials/products.
  • Commercial acumen, able to align our offering with the business objectives of main contractors.
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Why Join Us?

  • People-oriented business with strong values.
  • Development position to more senior levels in the organization.
  • Strategic, high-impact role with the ability to shape our market presence.
  • A chance to influence key decisions in major construction projects.
  • Work with industry-leading architects, contractors, and design teams.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package including car & bonus.

No Visa-sponsorship available for this role.
