As Lead Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering our client’s cutting-edge, visitor-facing digital experiences. From immersive displays to interactive audio and control systems, you’ll lead the design and implementation of innovative technologies across public spaces. We’re seeking a technically skilled, highly organised, and creative problem-solver who can seamlessly blend strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.

Salary: Up to £45,000 + Direct Staff Benefits

Responsibilities:

Your work will blend creativity, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to create engaging, resilient, and future-proof visitor experiences.

  • Leading projects, managing budgets, schedules, and procurement while ensuring accessibility and sustainability.
  • Defining and implementing a strategic approachto software, hardware, and control systemsacross permanent galleries and temporary exhibitions.
  • Specifying and reviewing designs,drawings, and hardware, prototyping new solutionswhere needed.
  • Procuring and managing AV design and integration services,overseeing installation scopesof work.
  • Collaborating with the DigitalExperience Technology Managerto shape a forward-thinking technology strategy, improving compliance and upgrading legacy systems.
  • Line-managing a Systems Developer, identifying work packagesto maximise their contribution.
  • Installing, commissioning, and documenting new systems while ensuring maintenance teams are well-trained.
  • Overseeing the storage and management of digital assets,enabling long-term exhibitupdates and maintenance.
  • Leading the implementation of asset management and software deployment solutions.
  • Staying ahead of emergingtechnologies, building relationships with key manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Working closely with digitaland technology teamsacross the group to share best practices and coordinate joint initiatives.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • A collaborative, proactive and forward-thinking approach. You will use your good communication skillsto work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, building and maintaining strong working relationships.
  • An ability to solve problems methodically.
  • Proven experience in designing, commissioning, and delivering AV and IT systems.
  • Strong ICT literacy, with experience acrossWindows and Mac operating systems.
  • Expertise in networking, including AV distribution over IP (e.g. NDI, Dante).
  • Hands-on experience with controlsystems such as Q-SYS or Crestron.
  • Excellent writtenskills, able to produce clear reports and technical documentation.
  • Strong project management abilities, effectively assigning resources to meet deadlinesand objectives.
  • Experience managingteams, contractors, and equipment, ensuringsmooth project execution.
