Principal Civil Engineer

Our tier 1 contractor in the water sector are seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join their new Northumbrian Water framework based in the Essex and Suffolk region on a permanent basis.

You will report directly to the Regional Discipline Lead – Civil or the Senior Design Manager. This role will necessitate traveling to other client regions initially to embed/onboard (likely Thames or Anglian).

The programme of work, across a variety of water and wastewater schemes is expected to be in the region of £280M.

Responsibilities

1. Produce design layouts which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be constructed and commissioned effectively.
2. Ensure that standard practices are utilised where ever possible.
3. Maintain competitiveness.
4. Provide estimates and feedback for Proposals department.
5. Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department.
6. Assist in developing procedures and processes.
7. Monitor and review the procedures and processes.
8. Write, update and monitor efficient procedures to aid the smooth running of the department.
9. Ensure co-ordination of designs with all other disciplines internal and external to client in order to ensure that the design processes carried out on the contract are co-ordinated for the benefit of the contract as a whole.
10. Maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts.
11. Assure customer satisfaction.
